10 Sep September 2016 Update
With Fall quickly approaching, the change in season provides a great opportunity to let you know what our team has been working on over the summer months.
We would like to answer some of the questions we hear most frequently. If you have any additional questions that aren’t answered here, please contact us and we look forward to sharing more information over the coming months.
Q: What is the current status of the project?
A: All of our engineering and design drawings have been completed for sometime, including roadways, landscaping, water and drainage. We are working on final approvals with Rocky View County. This has proven to be a lengthy process, however, we expect to have final approvals in place this Fall, with construction starting Spring 2017 to put us in a position to welcome our first retailers late 2017 or early 2018.
Q: Do you have any updates on your transportation plan?
A: Our team has been working with Alberta Transportation and Rocky View County to finalize the transportation designs. Our priority remains on the creation of the off ramp from Highway 1, traffic circles and the widening of Range Road 33 and Township Road 250. These road improvements will allow for easier and safer access to and from the site.
Q: We’ve heard there are some changes being proposed for the wastewater treatment plant. Can you explain?
A: As a result of new and improved technologies since the time of our original application, we have applied for an amendment to our existing approval to provide us the opportunity of benefitting from the enhanced system.
Other than the technology itself, there are no deviations from the previously approved standards and all remains the same as related to the disinfection system, odour control system, treated wastewater storage, wastewater irrigation performance and groundwater and soil monitoring of the surrounding area.
We are currently working with Rocky View County and Alberta Environment on final approvals for this change. We hope to start stripping and grading the area of this waste water treatment plant as soon as possible.
Q: What is the status of your landscaping plan?
A: All landscaping drawings have been approved for the municipal reserve and pathway system. This will create an attractive environmental enhancement and welcoming space for the community.
Q: When will you be announcing what retailers will be opening at Bingham Crossing?
A: While a delay in receiving approvals and the status of the current economy have slowed our leasing process, we’re in the process of negotiating leases with several new retailers for the project and leasing continues to progress. Our team has been travelling around North America to secure the best tenants for our retail mix at the project.
